Münchner Indie-Band mit Wave-, Sixties- und Elektropop-Einflüssen – meist in französischer, teils auch in englischer und deutscher Sprache. Bekannt geworden sind sie mit ihrem Club-Hit C'est Ma Vie, der auch auf dem ersten French Cuts-Sampler (Panatomic) erschien. Ihr erstes Album Très Chic, Trashig wurde für den Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik nominiert und von mehreren Radiostationen zum Album des Monats gewählt. Mit C'est ma vie belegten Phonoboy 4 Monate die ersten beiden Plätzen der Independent-TV-Sendung Pop 10 und sechs Wochen Platz 1 der Campuscharts. Das zweite Album erscheint im Herbst 2007. Another pearl from the fjords of Norway, Phonophani is a highly experimental electronic composer, with a great sense of detail and syncopated rhythm, working with his home-brewed software to create never-heard before sounds. Nevertheless, his work remains accessible for those able to cope with its apparent weirdness, and provides one of the most moving music one can hear, generating mostly melancholia, sadness ("End of All Things"), floating impression, but sometimes also more vivid and positive feelings ("Turquoise Egg").
Phonophani (a.k.a. Espen Sommer Eide) is also part of the duo Alog, along with Dag-Are Haugan.

Oskar was born in Pleß (Oberschlesien/Poland). His first compositions were produced with a chime at the age of six. He emigrated to the country of his grandparents (Germany) at the age of nine. He preferred to spend all his money on tapes at black markets in Poland while searching for a special sound. His first contact with serious electronic music came in 1992 in the form of in radio broadcasts like "Schwingungen" on WDR1 or Steve Mason's "Experience" on BFBS Radio London, as well as artists like "Koto" or "Kraftwerk".
