"Not punk" is a tag used by the last.fm community for use on artists whose music does not conform to the "punk" sound, ideology, image, or other "punk" qualification.
Some might argue a defining element of punk philosophy is noncomformity, and that conforming to a watered down pop formula warrants this tag.
Some users also use this tag for punk bands who they believe have "sold out", or for bands that are commonly labeled as punk, but are not punk bands in reality. .
