My Chemical Romance, grubun lideri ve vokalist Gerard Way tarafından 2001 senesinde kurulan Punk tabanlı bir rock müzik grubudur. İlk parçaları “Skylines and Turnstiles”ı 11 Eylül’de meydana gelen olaylar üzerine yazdı. Kadrosuna Gerard Way’in kardeşi Mikey Way ile Ray Toro’yu da ekleyen grup, New Jersey’de birçok konsere katılarak olumlu eleştiriler aldı.
İlk albümleri “I Brought You My Bullets You Brought Me Your Love”u 2002 senesinde Eyeball Records’dan çıkartan My Chemical Romance, albüm kayıtlarından hemen önce kadrosuna Frank Iero’yu kattı. Frank Iero’nun sadece iki parçada gitar çaldığı albüm, ‘suçlu aşıklar’ temasının üzerine örülü ve konsept şeklinde dinleyiciye iletiliyor.
