The Lucksmiths were an influential indiepop band from Melbourne, Australia which formed in 1993. The members are Martin 'Marty' Donald (Guitar), Taliesyn 'Tali' White (Vocals, Drums), and Mark 'Marky' Monnone (Bass) and in 2004 they acquired Mid State Orange's guitarist Louis Richter on second guitar. The Wordsmiths were a Scottish Indie band from Penicuik outside of the city of Edinburgh. They formed in 1990 and their music was inspired by the 'Baggy' sound of Madchester. As well as the C86 Indie movement. They came from small towns Penicuik and Loanhead in Midlothian, Scotland. Which enabled them to distance themselves from the mainstream. Dawn Smithson played bass guitar and sang in Jessamine; a band that released three albums on Kranky, singles on several other labels and contributed a track to the epic Music of the Spheres compilation on the Drunken Fish label.
