Esthetic Education was founded in 2004 in Kyiv, Ukraine by Louis Franck, a Belgian filmmaker and photographer living in London, together with two former members of the successful Ukrainian band Океан Ельзи - keyboard player Dima Shurov and bassist Yura Khustochka. The band quickly recorded the basic tracks for their debut, but spent another six months refining what would become Face Reading. Successful concerts in the UK and Ukraine followed, and Franck moved to Kyiv, allowing him to concentrate more on the band. A Classic Education is a band that formed in 2007 in Bologna, Italy although singer Jonathan Clancy is from Ottawa, Canada. The rest of the band is formed by Paul Pieretto, Luca Mazzieri, photographer Giulia Mazza, Federico Oppi, Stefano Roveda. Their music is a mix of dreamy guitars, sixties melodies, psych-pop, garage and classic songwriting. The band name, My Education was chosen from William S. Burroughs final novel - a collection of his dreams from various decades. Since forming in 1999, the membership of My Education has expanded and contracted while their sonic landscapes have grown with each release - 5 full length albums, several singles, compilation appearances, and a 12" vinyl collaboration with avant-hip hop duo dälek.
