美国音乐家、歌唱家、小号手、电影演员，1901年8月4日生于新奥尔良。半个多世纪以来，一直是世界首席爵士音乐演奏家之一。最早在joe oliver等乐队吹短号和唱歌，他演唱的《你知道这对纽奥良小姐意味着什么？》、《梦中一曲》等黑人歌曲，曾于1925年灌制唱片，广泛传唱。1930年他成立自己的爵士乐队，一直到七十年代初，始终与乐队一起表演。
Louis Armstrong一生曾在二十二部音乐歌舞片中演出，而且在很多片中他用的都是本名。他曾多次带领他的乐队出国访问，进行世界性的巡回演出，从而得到了非官方的“美国亲善大使”的称号。他在银幕上的小号表演，带有伤感音调，却配以他那热情亲切的笑容，受到广大爵士乐爱好者和银幕观众的欢迎。
Louis Armstrong出身纽奥良贫民区，很小他父亲就抛弃家庭，不知所终，但困窘的生活并不影响少年阿姆斯壮对音乐的追求，他在社会最底层长大，还曾经进过少年感化院，所幸他在感化院学会了吹短号（cornet），开始接触音乐，没几年的时间，18岁的阿姆斯壮，已经是纽奥良知名的演奏者了，成为当时最红的娃娃欧瑞Kid Ory乐团的短号手，1922年，加入奥立佛国王Joe King Oliver乐团，在前辈奥立佛的指导调教之下，阿姆斯壮进步神速，逐渐建立起他作为一位伟大独奏者的地位。
早在20年代，Louis Armstrong就已是一位知名的小号手，不过更引人注意的是他那低沉浑厚的歌声。在多个乐队与录音室专辑的磨合之后，1927年以他为名的乐队--Louis Armstrong And His Stompers 诞生，同年并首次以歌手的身份进入畅销排行榜。随后，Louis Armstrong还加入了舞台剧、百老汇及电影的音乐工作，在英国、欧洲等地区展开长期的巡回演唱活动，成功的单曲、专辑也不断地发表，即使第二次世界大战期间，依然没有停歇，并不断地创造出无数销售成功的单曲与高度评价的专题作品。
综观Louis Armstrong一生，作为一位爵士乐手的他，不仅拥有成功的乐队、受欢迎的唱片，并曾和Duke Ellington、Ella Fitzgerald等知名乐手及顶尖歌手合作，受到爵士乐界极度地推崇，甚至于其歌唱才华与极具辨识度的独特嗓音，在歌坛上亦是无人能仿效，因而跨界成为流行音乐的巨星，虽然作品众多，但一点也未减少他在音乐上的成就与表现，亦不断地被后世之人所欣赏与钟爱，并且频繁地被运用来为广告、电视及电影，铺陈营造或浪漫、或轻松、或温馨的气氛，倍增地平添剧情的吸引力与张力。
Satchmo这个暱称，其实是由Satchel「书包」与Mouth「嘴巴」两个英文单字结合在一起的简称。那麼，為何小号手Louis Armstrong会被称作Uncle Satchmo呢？因為Armstrong从小就有张大嘴，小时候同伴们常用夸张的绰号来取笑他；像是「阔嘴」Gatemouth、「吸盘嘴」Dippermouth，与「书包嘴」Satchelmouth等等。
长大后的某一天，Armstrong来到了英国接受音乐杂誌的採访，见面时记者亲切的叫他”Hello, Satchmo!”，Armstrong听到后觉得这个简称很酷，索性就把Satchmo当作是自己的外号；后来，Satchmo更成為他第二本自传的书名。从此之后，Uncle Satchmo就成了Louis Armstrong的正字商标了。
来自纽奥良的Louis Armstrong不仅传奇一生，至今百年身仍是爵士乐的贡献最多的艺人。而他所演奏或唱过的经典名曲，也是典型美国南方乐风与摇摆乐黄金时期的精华典范。

Luther is the debut album by American recording artist group Luther, released in May 1976. The album features Luther Vandross and along with members Anthony Hinton, Diane Sumler, Theresa V. Reed, and Christine Wiltshire.
"It's Good for the Soul", "Funky Music (Is a Part of Me)" and "The 2nd Time Around" were released as singles, but the album failed to chart. Vandross bought back the rights to the album after the record label dropped the group, preventing its later re-release.
