speaker gain teardrop are a three-piece post-rock/shoegaze band from Hiroshima, Japan. The band formed around Ikki Murakami (drums) and Yasuchika Horibe (guitar) in 1998, shortly after their previous band disbanded. Currently, they are Murakami, Horibe, and Fumiaki Kimura (bass). Murakami and Horibe were involved in カングルワングル (kanguruwanguru), an indie rock band also based in Hiroshima, until its indefinite hiatus starting in 2015. Horibe has a solo electronica/ambient/drone project, stabilo.

During their career that spans near 20 years at the time of writing, speaker gain teardrop have played together with notable bands like mono, envy, toe, and world’s end girlfriend.

With a minimal number of members and using as little equipment as possible, speaker gain teardrop aim to deliver instrumental post-rock influenced by shoegaze and electronica that manipulates noise and feedback to the limit, while at the same time elevating the listener up the stairs to bliss with each note.
