Bay Laurel is a Sweden based Gothic Rock act founded during 1993. Frontman Rickard Löfgren and keyboard player Johan Carlsson both had prior affiliations to Death Metal outfit DAWN OF DECAY whilst founding bassist Mattias Jonsson was an ex-CELESTIAL SIGNS member. For the May 1995 Daniel Bergstrand produced album 'Under A Clouded Sky' album, issued on the Noxious label, the band comprised Löfgren, Jonsson, Carlsson, guitarists Anders Karlsson and Petter Miller with Tobias Gustafsson on the drums. In 1980 John Barrow and Gaz Birtles founded The Swinging Laurels. Gaz had been previously fronting a Ska/Rock band in Leicester, United Kingdom, The Newmatics, where John would make regular guest appearances on sax. It was during this period that Gaz and John decided to experiment with an old Elka organ Drum machine and a Roland SH1 Mono synth.
