Phuture ist eine US-amerikanische Musikgruppe aus Chicago, die mit der 12" "Acid Trax" 1987 ein für die elektronische Musik wegweisendes Stück produzierte. Das Stück basiert hauptsächlich auf dem Klang der Roland TB-303 und gilt daher als eines der ersten Acid-Stücke. Die Gruppe wurde 1985 von DJ Pierre sowie den Synthesizer-Fans Spanky und Herb J gegründet, um Platten zu produzieren, damit Pierre diese in seine DJ-Sets in den Clubs Chicagos einbauen konnte. Herb J verließ die Musikgruppe bereits bei der Nachfolge-Single "We are Phuture" und wurde durch DJ Roy Davis, Jr. ersetzt. DJ Pierre wurde einige Veröffentlichungen später durch Professor Trax...

Long running act made famous for their ragga tinged hardcore releases on seminal UK breakbeat label Suburban Base. Originally started off as a collaboration between Dave Jay (as Dave B) and Reesh for the very first release on Boogie Times, the name was then passed on to Austin Reynolds who collaborated with Krome & Time for the remaining Suburban Base releases.
