The Original Kočani Orkestar (TOKO) ist ein 7-köpfiges Balkan Brass Orchester aus der türkischsprachigen Roma-Gemeinde in Kočani, Mazedonien. Seit ihrem Soundtrack für Emir Kusturicas Spielfilm "Time of the Gypsies" wurden sie europaweit bekannt und touren häufig in Mitteleuropa und von Italien bis Finnland. Der Stil dieses Roma-Blasorchesters wird in der eigenen Region als "Romska Orientalna Musika" bezeichnet. Es ist eine sehr schnell gespielte, tanzbare Mixtur aus Balkan Blechbläser Sounds und türkisch-bulgarischen Rhythmen. Die für Mitteleuropäer ungewohnten ungeraden Taktarten, z.B. 11/8-Takte, sind ohne längere Übung kaum nachspielbar. Boban Marković (Бобан Марковић) ist ein serbischer Trompeter und Flügelhornist und zusammen mit seinem Sohn Marko Marković Leiter der Blasmusikgruppe Boban i Marko Marković Orkestar. Er gilt als führender Musiker seines Genres, der häufig als Balkan Brass bezeichneten Blasmusik des Balkan, und verhalf dieser Musik auch zu internationaler Bekanntheit. Marković wurde in Serbien als mehrfacher Gewinner der „Goldenen Trompete“ beim Trompetenfestival in Guča, einem der größten Volksmusikfestivals der Welt, populär, wo er seit seinem fünften Sieg 2001 nur mehr außer Konkurrenz antritt.
