Sidney Bechet (* 14. Mai 1897 in New Orleans; † 14. Mai 1959 in Paris) war ein kreolischer Sopransaxophonist und Klarinettist. Sidney Bechet arbeitete als Straßenmusiker in New Orleans. 1917 verließ er New Orleans und ging nach Chicago. Erste Schallplatten-Aufnahmen machte er 1923 mit „Clarence Williams' Blue Five“, in dieser Besetzung zeitweilig gemeinsam mit Louis Armstrong, den er schon seit seiner Kindheit aus New Orleans kannte.
