The Avengers waren eine in Kalifornien beheimatete Punk-Rock-Band der ersten Welle. Penelope Houston, die sich später der Folk-Musik zuwandte, war Sängerin und Teil dessen, was die Band einzigartig und erinnerungswürdig macht. Bandgeschichte The Avengers spielten als Vorgruppe der Sex Pistols bei deren letzter Show in Winterland und ihre 4-Song-EP wurde von deren Gitarristen Steve Jones produziert. The Scavengers were formed in Auckland during the mid-70s. They were four graphic art students, bent on playing a brash form of street rock, and with a knack for ludicrously silly stage pseudonyms. The Scavengers are best known for their punk nuggets 'Mysterex' and 'True Love' that featured on the punk compilation 'AK79'. Between 1977 and 1978 the Scavengers regularly perfomed at Auckland punk club Zwins in Durham Lane, and The Windsor Castle in Parnell. The Mighty Avengers were an English pop group, who were formed in 1962 in Coventry, England. The group were managed by Andrew Loog Oldham, who at the same time, also managed The Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards wrote the group's only hit, "So Much In Love" b/w "Something They Say" written by Tony Calder and Andrew Loog Oldham, which spent two weeks in the UK Singles Chart, reaching number 46 at the end of 1964.
