Book of Shadows is an experimental group from Austin, TX, United States. Their music is usually always improvised and is best described as moving and powerfully magical in its unique way of taking the listener to beautiful and strange otherworldly dimensions.
The core of Book of Shadows is husband-and-wife Carlton Crutcher (longtime ST 37 member) and Sharon Crutcher. Current members also include Aaron Bennack, Jonathan Horne (Plutonium Farmers), Jason Zenmoth (The Ghost and Swift Moths) and Douglas Fergusson.
Carlton Crutcher, former member of Austin space rock band ST 37, parlayed that band's psych vibes into Book of Shadows’ improvisational skin after he left the band in 2001. With Carlton behind the synths while Sharon’s otherworldly vocals weave through loose compositions, Book of Shadows' electronically inclined drone is very much in touch with the spiritual world.
