The Strokes es una banda de rock formada en Nueva York, Estados Unidos por Julian Casablancas (vocalista y compositor), Nick Valensi (guitarra principal), Albert Hammond, Jr. (guitarra rítmica), Nikolai Fraiture (bajo) y Fabrizio Moretti (batería) en 1998. Alcanzaron la fama a principios del año 2000 como un grupo líder en la reactivación del garage rock. Athens,GR (1999-present): BootStroke was born through the need of playing Oi!Oi!Oi! music and sing about the things we like and hate.The band was formed in Thessaloniki in 1999-2000 by members of other Oi! and streetpunk bands of that time.The band released a demo tape and did some local gigs.All the members were from diferent cities so the band couldnt last for long like this. En primavera de 2002 Niko Rauhala y Janne Juutinen decidieron formar una banda, ya sabéis como se suelen formar las bandas de Metal hoy en día. Bajo el nombre de Masterstroke (golpe maestro) se juntaron 4, Niko Rauhala (voz y guitarra), Janne Juutinen (batería), Mikko Viheriälä (teclados) y Arto Tissari (bajo), hicieron un demo CD y comenzaron a dar algunos conciertos para promocionarse.
