Mindless Self Indulgence (or MSI) are an American Industrial rock band that found its origin in New York City, NY in 1997. The current lineup is Jimmy Urine (vocals), Steve Righ? (guitar), Lyn-Z (bass) and Kitty (drums). Though considered electropunk, they are heavily influenced by jungle, industrial, electronic dance music, and hip-hop. Intentionally iconoclastic, James Euringer (who uses the stage name Little Jimmy Urine) owes sartorial influence to the New York Dolls, wearing fishnet shirts at concerts, and is occasionally seen in shorts or pants with the inside cut out similar to how a skirt looks, and neon stockings. EMERGENCE was formed in 1999 by by founding members Robert Holman (aka The Apostate) and Erik Kosnar (aka Vathan K) as an experimental gothic-rock/electro project. The duo soon enlisted the aid of Noel Johannes on keys, and spent a turbulent inaugural year trying out first one guitarist and then another, and then a third. Johanna Kurkela (born 10 April, 1985 in Lumijoki, Finland) is a Finnish singer. She started to play the violin at the age of five and continued for for seven years. She went on to the classical piano a few years later. She attended secondary school in Oulu at Madetojan musiikkilukio (an upper secondary school, otherwise known as a gymnasium in other parts of Europe) specializing in music.
