Severed Fifth is a music project designed to explore how far a musician can take his music with the new economics of the music industry. It all began in the year 2000, some time during the summer. Fredrik Djurfeldt and Ulf Lundblad happened to be in the same place at the same time. Since then they have released four and a half album and a whole lot of other stuff. First off was the album Discipline is reward enough, released by PAF records in May 2003. Soon PAF records ceased to exist and Severe Illusion moved to New Mexico based Dangerous Sharks Biting People (DSBP) who released the next album, Accomplishments of Leopold II, in the year 2005. Lee's music is usually pretty weird. A lot of his work is based in sample-based and avant-garde experiments. He's also composed instrumental themes for websites and radio programs, and had music featured in podcasts and short films. He works professionally in radio, and has won a New York Award in sound design. Severed Head of State is a D-beat/Hardcore punk band with members split between Portland, Oregon and Austin, Texas. Band members play in other bands such as World Burns To Death, J Church, Criaturas, Tragedy, Warcry, and Defiance. Their lyrics usually focus on deep detestation of both human nature and the Christian belief system. Their sound ranges from slow melodies to furious thrashcore. Vocalist Jack Control was stabbed in the mid-section late January 2006 with the blow just missing the heart by five inches. .
