Europe ist eine schwedische Hardrockgruppe. Mitte der 1980er Jahre erlangte die Band mit ihrem internationalen Chartserfolg The Final Countdown weltweite Bekanntheit, einem Song, der mit seiner eingängigen Synthesizer-Melodie zur „Hymne der 80er Jahre“ wurde. Die Single und auch das gleichnamige Album führten 1986 monatelang in vielen Ländern die Charts an. Streams of Europe was initially the code name of a sound and game design experiment. The idea was to create a soundtrack first, then build a video game upon it. Several albums and live sessions later, it appeared music had become a bit more than just a soundtrack. The imaginary world at the origin of the project started to take form around 1994, as a pen & paper role-playing game. Many changes occured through the years, and many other media were tried. 1.Europeans were a New Wave band formed in Bristol, UK in 1977. The line-up was Jonathan Cole (formally of Colortapes on vocals, guitar and synthesizers), Jon Klein (ex-Emergency Exit on lead guitar), Steve Street (ex-Public Enemy Number One on bass guitar) and James Cole (drums/percussion). Hungarian band. I brought this group together on March 2001. Not long after having had a bass player switch, we ended up with the lineup existing to this very day, featuring my friend and co-composer Peta Lukács on guitar, János Nagy on keyboards and my favorite rhythm-section companion Péter Papesch on the bass.
