"Chicago rock band Whales experiment with noise, dynamics, and melody. Their music is firmly rooted in basement rock, and branches towards sculpted towers of spaced-out sonics that wrap themselves around indelible melodies. Whales is busy writing material for their sophmore release titled Plate Tectonics, to be released in late 2012. Serve the song. Noisy heaven-rock. Est. 2009."

6) Whales is also a one-man digital hardcore act from Anglesey, North Wales, UK, signed to Bad Egg Records.

Formed by David McCann of Micrographia in the summer of 2008 . Whales play a mix of digital hardcore and noise punk, taking heavy influence fromacts such as Lightning bolt and Big Black. Using just a battered drum machine, a child's bass guitar loaded with banjo strings and a telephone reciever, whales creates a party noise atmosphere reminiscent of late 90's Load Records acts.

Their debut EP "Hellephant" was released under Bad Egg Records in March 2009. The EP has so far gained air-time on Adam Walton's show on BBC Radio Wales

Whale's first album "Open Ice Hits" was released on Bad Egg Records June 2010.
