ウィズイン・テンプテーション (Within Temptation)は、オランダのシンフォニックメタル・ゴシックメタルバンド。 1996年に結成され、ヨーロッパを中心にシンフォニック・ゴシックメタルの中心的存在となっている。1996年当時、THE CIRCLE（後にVOYAGEに改名）のギター＆ボーカルのロバート・ウェスターホルト (Robert Westerholt) とVOYAGEにゲスト参加経験のあるシャロン・デン・アデル (Sharon den Adel) が中心になって結成された。結成当時は5人組。途中加入のメンバーを除けば昔からの親友同士。 翌1997年初めて製作したデモテープと同タイトルの『エンター Enter』（1997年）で彼らの地元であるオランダのDSFAレコードからデビュー。欧州ツアーを行い人気と知名を上げ1997年・1998年とダイナモ・フェスに連続出場。 翌1998年にEP『THE DANCE』をリリース。1999年大学卒業のため活動をトーンダウンさせ卒業後、好きな音楽ができなくなることを恐れ就職する。 当時ファッションマネジメントを専攻していたシャロンはファッション会社のメンズ担当として商品管理をやっていた。ロバートはインターネット会社で経理や雇用を担当していた。しかしバンドの人気が出すぎてしまい、早々に退職。 翌2000年12月にセカンドアルバム『Mother Earth』（2000年）を発表。GUNレコードが制作し、オランダ国外での配給はロードランナー・レコードが担当した。母国オランダのアルバムチャートで3ヶ月以上ランクイン、オランダとドイツ、ベルギーでプラチナム・ディスクを獲得。 2004年11月にサードアルバム『ザ・サイレント・フォース The Silent Force』（2004年）をリリースする。シングルカットされたStand My Ground（2004年）のヒットとともに前作以上にブレイクし、アルバムはオランダでチャート1位を獲得。再びプラチナム・ディスクを獲得するとともに7か国でゴールドディスク認定されるなど欧州の権威ある音楽賞各賞を受賞し、これを機に英国、豪州、日本でもリリースされるようになる。結果、DUTCH MUSIC AWARD（オランダの音楽輸出に多大なる功績を残したことを讃える賞）を受賞する。 デビューアルバム『エンター Enter』（1997年）は日本盤が発売されたものの、ゴシック・メタルに対する市場のなかった日本ではその後の作品が発売されることはなかった。その後このジャンルにも光が当たるようになり、アルバム第3作目『ザ・サイレント・フォース The Silent Force』（2004年）より再び日本盤が発売された。 2011年の『The Unforgiving』では長年籍を置いたGUNからコロムビア・レコードに移籍、ブラッドレインやDARK 48などを手がけたスティーヴン・オコーネルが原作、ウィッチブレイドやX-メンなどを手がけるロマノ・モレナーが作画を担当した同タイトルのアメリカン・コミックスとタイアップし、連動する物語を描いたバンド初の「コンセプトアルバム」として発売された。 2014年の『Hydra』では同社の再編によりSony Music所属となり、各国での配給もロードランナーを離れてソニーグループの各社が担当した。同作では長年女性ヴォーカルゴシックメタルのライバルと評されてきた元ナイトウィッシュのターヤ・トゥルネンや元キルスウィッチ・エンゲイジのハワード・ジョーンズなど多彩なゲストを迎えた。また、前作制作直後に加入したステファン・ヘレブラットを含む初の3ギター編成でのアルバムである。 メンバー シャロン・デン・アデル Sharon den Adel - ボーカル ロバート・ウェスターホルト Robert Westerholt - ギター（※2011年以降は製作とスタジオ録音に専念） マーティン・スピーレンブルグ Martijn Spierenburg - キーボード イェローン・フォン・フェーン Jeroen van Veen - ベース ルード・ヨリー Ruud Jolie - ギター マイク・コーレン Mike Coolen - ドラムス ステファン・ヘレブラット Stefan Helleblad - リズムギター 旧メンバー イヴァル・デ・グラーフ - ドラムス (1996 - 1998、1999 - 2001) マタイン・ウェスターホルト- キーボード (1996 - 2001) ミカエル・パッペンホーブ - ギター (1996 - 2001) ジェリー・ベーカー - ギター (2001) シロ・パルマ...

God Within aka Scott Hardkiss was a one of the forefathers of the American rave scene. His self run record label Hardkiss Records was a breeding ground of artists to come like Rabbit in the Moon, Hawke, and many others. His tracks and label were heavily supported by the two of the most powerful men in the progressive music scene, Sasha and John Digweed, and can be seen on their early compilations. Though Scott Hardkiss doesn't produce music of this nature as often anymore, he is still hard at work composing musical scores. .

A solo project of Ryan Conley (Volim) started in Boston, Massachusetts in 2001. "Formed in 2001 in Northeastern US, TW(temperature within) started as a electronic music project, focusing on low frequencies, sampled sounds, and loops.
