LUNA SEA（ルナシー）は、日本のロックバンド。1989年に結成し、1992年メジャーデビュー。2000年に活動を休止したが、2010年に活動を再開した。 メンバー 　* RYUICHI（リュウイチ）：ボーカル 　* SUGIZO（スギゾー）：ギター&バイオリン 　* INORAN（イノラン）：ギター 　* J（ジェイ）：ベース 　* 真矢（シンヤ）： ドラムス&パーカッション 　メンバー全員が作詞・作曲を行い、初期の作品を除きクレジットは全て作詞・作曲：LUNA SEAとなっている。これは原曲となる曲を個人が作曲し、それを元にメンバー全員で作り込む（ジャム・セッション）という方法を取っているためである。また、権利を公平にするという意味もある。 　LUNA SEAには明確なリーダーが存在しない（一部でリーダーは最年長のSUGIZOと言われているが、本人は否定している）。意思決定は全員一致が原則で、ある提案に対し五人のうち一人でも嫌だと言えば、その案はボツになった。Jは「他のバンドさんの前に、五人がライバルだ」と語っている。 　LUNA SEAのファンを「SLAVE（スレイヴ）」と呼び、六番目のメンバーとしている。SLAVEはオフィシャルファンクラブの名称でもあり、ファンクラブ SLAVEはLUNA SEAが終幕した現在も活動している。 　RYUICHIは結成当時RAYLA（レイラ）、真矢はローマ字表記でSHINYAと名乗り活動していた。 　LUNA SEAとは「月と海」と言う意味である（LUNAはラテン語 SEAは英語）。インディーズ時代は狂気という意味のLUNACYと言うバンド名であった。メジャーでの活動を視野に入れた彼らは、一つの意味に縛られず、また、音楽的にも「深く」・「広く」という思いから、「～CY」箇所を「～SEA」にした「LUNA SEA」というバンド名に変更した。これはJの提案によるものである。 　2000年に発売されたアルバムには、初心に帰るという意味も込めて、旧バンド名である「LUNACY」という名が付けられている。 .
