99年、シングル「TOKYO」にて衝撃的デビュー。 パンク・ロック風の荒削りなサウンドのなか 清春特有のカラミつくようなシャウトが光る本作は、 ビッグ・セールスを記録した。 同年には、1stアルバム『SAD BLOOD ROCK'N'ROLL』を発表。 「TOKYO」における作風を踏襲したワイルド&ポップな仕上がりに。 特に、若者の傷つきやすい心を代弁したかのような詞世界は、 多くのティーンエイジャーのハートに響きわたった。 その後も、「赤裸々」「忘却の空」など、大ヒットを連発していく。 また、ひとつのスタイルに収まらず、 『THE ROSE GOD GAVE ME』(01年)ではダーク&ヘヴィなサウンドを呈示するなど、 新境地の開拓にも余念がない。 数々のストリート系ファッション誌の表紙をかざり、 自身もブランド運営を行うなど、 清春のファッション・リーダー的な側面も人気に一役買っていると言えるだろう。 .
