ストロークス (The Strokes) は、1999年にアメリカ合衆国はニューヨークで結成されたロックバンド。 メンバー ジュリアン・カサブランカス(Julian Casablancas) - ボーカル ニック・ヴァレンシ(Nick Valensi) - ギター アルバート・ハモンドJr. (Albert Hammond Jr.) - ギター ニコライ・フレイチュア (Nikolai Fraiture) - ベース ファブリツィオ・モレッティ(Fabrizio Moretti) - ドラム 略歴 1999年、NYのアッパーウェストサイドにある学校で、幼馴染で一緒にバンドをやっていたジュリアンとニコライのコンビに、ニックとファブのこちらも幼馴染コンビが出会う。そこにLAから映画の勉強にやってきていたアルバートが加わり、結成される。 2001年、イギリスのラフ・トレードにデモ･テープを送り、契約に至る。3曲入りのシングル「ザ・モダン・エイジ」（THE MODERN AGE）を発表。これがきっかけでイギリスで人気が爆発。音楽誌はこぞって“NEXT BIG THING”として取り上げる。同年8月にデビューアルバム『イズ・ディス・イット』を発売し、全世界でヒットさせる。 2002年、2月に初の来日公演を行う。チケットは即日完売となり、会場によっては当初より大きい会場に変更されるハプニングもあった。 2003年、2ndアルバム『ルーム・オン・ファイア』を発表する。「12:51」、「レプティリア」（REPTILIA）がヒットし、人気を確かなものとする。8月にはサマーソニックに出演。 2006年、3rdアルバム『ファースト・インプレッションズ・オブ・アース』を発表する。この年のフジ・ロック・フェスティバルではヘッドライナーを務める。 アルバム イズ・ディス・イット - Is This It （2001年）アメリカ盤はジャケットが異なる（発禁の為に）。 ルーム・オン・ファイア - Room On Fire （2003年） ファースト・インプレッションズ・オブ・アース - First Impressions of Earth （2006年） 以下2010/8/11追加 来年1月には4枚目となるアルバムが発売される予定であったが、後にフロントマンのジュリアンカサブランカスが「アルバムは来年3月」と発言している。 .

Athens,GR (1999-present): BootStroke was born through the need of playing Oi!Oi!Oi! music and sing about the things we like and hate.The band was formed in Thessaloniki in 1999-2000 by members of other Oi! and streetpunk bands of that time.The band released a demo tape and did some local gigs.All the members were from diferent cities so the band couldnt last for long like this. When Niko Rauhala and Janne Juutinen decided to form a band in the spring of 2002, they had to think of a good name for a band that would have surprising and clever songs. After some brainstorming they came up with a name that seemed to fit them perfectly: MASTERSTROKE. At first there were four members in the band: Niko Rauhala – vocals & guitar, Janne Juutinen – drums, Mikko Viheriälä (ex-Dreamtale) – keyboard, and Arto Tissari (Korpiklaani, Crystalic) – bass.
