アニマルズ (The Animals) は、 イギリスのロックバンド。 1960年代半ば、ビートルズなどと共に世界的に人気を博した。 アメリカではいわゆる ブリティッシュ・インベイジョンの代表格のひとつと見なされている。 アメリカのブルースに根ざした作風が特徴的で、 今日のロックシーンにも多大な影響をもたらしたバンドである。 1963年、イギリスのニューキャッスルで エリック・バードン（ヴォーカル）、アラン・プライス（オルガン、ピアノ）、 ヒルトン・ヴァレンタイン（ギター）、チャス・チャンドラー（ベース）、 ジョン・スティール（ドラム）の五人で結成。 バンド名の由来として最も有力なのが、 ライブがあまりにもワイルドだったため観客から「Animal!」という声が多くかかったことから、 メンバー自ら名乗るようになったというエピソード。 音楽性はブルース色が非常に強く、 ジョン・リー・フッカーの「Boom Boom」などをコピーしている。 対照的に、シングル曲にはヒットを意識して ブリル・ビルディング系の作曲家の作品が多く取り上げられる。 ヒット曲は数多くあるが、 「The House Of The Rising Sun（朝日のあたる家）」が最大のヒット曲として知られている。 これはアメリカの伝統的なフォーク・ソングを、ブルース的な解釈でカバーしたものである。 日本でも、「Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood（悲しき願い）」が 尾藤イサオにより日本語カバーされるなど人気を博した。 1965年6月、1968年11月、1983年に来日公演。 また、同じ時期に活躍していたこともあり、 ビートルズのメンバーとも仲が良かった。 チャス・チャンドラーはジミ・ヘンドリックスを見出したことでも知られる。 1966年に解散したあと、 本拠地をサンフランシスコへ移し「エリック・バードン＆ジ・アニマルズ」として再始動 （グレイトフル・デッド、ジェファーソンエアプレインなどとシスコ・サウンドと呼ばれるようになる、 1968年に来日公演の予定であったが羽田空港に着くなり エリック・バードンはいきなり解散声明を行い他のメンバーは困惑する。 この時期のメンバーとしてザ・ポリスのギタリストであるアンディ・サマーズが在籍していた。 .

Animal Alpha was an alternative rock band from Norway that formed in 2002. The singer Agnete Maria Forfang Kjølsrud wanted to play in a band that already existed. After a while she got a call from Christian Wibe who had a band, but lacked a singer. Thus Animal Alpha was born. Oxfordshire quartet Glass Animals are Dave Bayley, Drew MacFarlane, Edmund Irwin-Singer and Joe Seaward.
